Viv awarded HR Chartered Membership

We’re thrilled to announce that EQ Consultants’ Principal Consultant and founder Viv Patterson has achieved Chartered Membership from The Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRNZ).

Chartered Membership is the standard set by HRNZ - New Zealand’s professional body for human resource (HR) professionals. This standard officially recognises Viv’s technical competency and personal credibility as an HR professional, along with her outstanding service to the HR profession and organisations that she works with, distinguishing her over others working under the same conditions and environment.

In order to become a Chartered Member, Viv was assessed against the HRNZ competency framework Kahikatea, Ka Taea. This included a detailed application, face to face interview, followed by interviews from three of her referees.

Viv is the current President at HRNZ’s Canterbury branch and prior to that, she was a committee member.

“Chartering is to establish a level of competence in terms of HR abilities and skills to support HRNZ in establishing a standard of professionalism. It reinforces the service we deliver on a daily basis and supports the level of trust and credibility we strive to maintain.

“As a committee member previously, I was always aware of supporting the national body and those involved, by engaging in the process. Being a member has also provided additional insight into what it’s like to be a true generalist, as well as working closely with our range of clients. We support businesses within the professional services sector, manufacturing, NGOs, charities, agricultural, logistics, pre-schools, and healthcare – the list goes on.”

Viv encourages fellow HR consultants to become accredited Chartered Members under HRNZ.

“Being an HRNZ member is a great way to connect with fellow HR professionals and share experiences, particularly for those who work independently or in small teams and need to bounce around ideas.

“I’d recommend anyone in HR to work towards achieving HRNZ Chartered Membership – it really is a ‘stamp of approval’ for their credibility and competency as an HR professional.”
