They are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the Christchurch-based finance team, supporting accurate, timely, and high-quality financial operations across the business.

About the role
Reporting to the Management Accountant, you’ll play a key role in delivering financial services and supporting business performance. This is a broad, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys variety and working in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Perform reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, general ledger)
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
  • Prepare and post journals, maintain fixed asset registers, and manage depreciation schedules
  • Assist with GST, FBT and other statutory returns
  • Contribute to year-end reporting and financial statements
  • Provide finance support to the Insurance team, including refunds and client statements
  • Support payroll processing
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems and processes
About you
You’ll be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a team-focused environment.

To be successful, you will have:
  • Relevant accounting qualification 
  • Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar high-volume transactional role
  • Strong technical accounting fundamentals and systems capability
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset aligned with a “One Team” culture
Exposure to the agri-services sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
