The Opportunity
On behalf of our client, Probuild ITM, we are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow their trade sales performance through strong customer relationships, disciplined sales execution, and hands-on leadership.

This is a working leadership role. While you will lead a small, high-performing team of 4–5 trade sales representatives, you will also personally onboard and manage a selection of new accounts and maintain close relationships with key existing customers. Success in this role comes from being visible in the market, actively engaged with customers, and setting the standard for sales activity and service excellence.

About the Role
As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for delivering agreed sales revenue and margin targets, while ensuring reliable service outcomes for our trade customers. You will translate the sales plan into clear team priorities, coach your team through regular field engagement, and ensure strong pipeline discipline and forecasting accuracy.

You will play a critical role in:
  • Growing share-of-wallet within key accounts
  • Onboarding and developing new trade customers
  • Protecting margin through disciplined pricing and commercial decision-making
  • Building a positive, accountable sales culture
Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Execution
  • Lead, coach and develop a trade sales team of 4–5 to consistently achieve revenue and margin targets
  • Drive disciplined sales activity including calls, visits, quoting and follow-up
  • Set clear expectations, priorities and performance standards for the team
  • Joint responsibility for marketing and sponsorship.
Hands-On Customer Management
  • Personally onboard and manage a portfolio of new trade accounts
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key existing customers through regular contact, site visits and proactive problem solving
  • Identify growth opportunities within key accounts, including cross-sell and project opportunities
Customer Retention & Experience
  • Retain 100% of key accounts while delivering agreed growth
  • Resolve escalated customer issues quickly and permanently
  • Work closely with branch and operations teams to ensure reliable service delivery
Commercial & Reporting Discipline
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, CRM data, pipeline visibility and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with pricing, margin, credit and trading terms
  • Identify and address margin leakage and pricing exceptions
Team Development & Culture
  • Recruit, onboard and develop team capability in partnership with the General Manager
  • Run effective team meetings focused on pipeline, performance and continuous improvement
  • Build a positive, accountable culture aligned with company values and service standards
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience leading a trade sales team, or a senior trade sales professional ready for their next step
  • Strong background in building materials, construction supply or a similar trade environment
  • A hands-on leader who enjoys being in the market with customers
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Highly organised with disciplined CRM and forecasting habits
  • Confident communicator who builds trust quickly with customers and internal teams
