Programmer
EQ Consultants is excited to be partnering with Metalworld in the search for a Programmer. Offering full end to end metalwork capability for a diverse customer base, Metalworld have been "making it better since 1989".
Metalworld work across the private and public sectors throughout New Zealand, manufacturing to contract as well as partnering with clients to design and manufacture bespoke products from scratch.

The Opportunity
- Prepare projects for production
- Create programmes for CNC machinery
- Collaborate with key staff to successfully deliver on customer orders
As the Programmer you will use your high-quality standards and overall professionalism along with a continuous improvement mindset to deliver in line with Metalworld's vision and commitment to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret drawings and specifications for CNC and CAD/CAM preparation
- Create CNC programmes using AlmaCAM (sheet and tube)
- Assist Production Manager with scheduling and materials management
- Simulate and test CNC programmes for safety and efficiency
- Ensure CNC programmes align with customer technical requirements
- Provide technical support and advice where needed
- Identify root causes for programming or production issues and propose improvements
- Collaborate cross functionally with key staff around scheduling, quoting and handover phases
- Participate in leadership and continuous improvement meetings
- Qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and/or three+ years' experience in CNC programming and CAD/CAM presentation, ideally in metal fabrication
- Proficient in AlmaCAM or other major CAD/CAM software
- Expertise in CNC programming, CAD/CAM design along with automated manufacturing process experience
- Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of sheet metal processes and CNC equipment (laser, tube, punch)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail - you are precision focused
- Sound understanding of production workflows and material planning
- Deadline driven with strong time management skills
