Follow the checklist if you want to issue termination with notice.
A termination with notice usually is used if there has been an accumulation of warnings and the behaviour has not been rectified by the employee or the mis conduct is serious requiring a summary dismissal. It is not unusual for companies to pay out the notice period rather than require the employee to work out their notice period. It should be noted that you need to be careful not to provide glowing references for employees who have had their employment terminated for misconduct or non-performance. In any case, you are under no obligation to provide an employee with a reference, unless you choose to do so.
